Frequently asked questions

If you’ve received a BID Levy bill but have since moved from the billed address, it likely means your business details have not yet been updated. This is typically updated when a new occupier takes on a commercial property, but to ensure accuracy and avoid any issues, it’s best to notify the Council’s business rates team directly that you’ve relocated.

Your BID Levy bill includes full payment instructions. To pay online, please visit the Council website at: https://www.civicaepay.co.uk/HaringeyEstore/estore/default/Catalog/Index

Yes, the BID Levy is mandatory and must be paid. Failure to pay within the specified timeframe may result in legal action and additional costs being incurred.
The BID Levy bill is typically sent to the same address as the business rates bill. It is the responsibility of the person or department that receives these bills to ensure the BID Levy is paid.

BID Levy Bills are issued directly by a local authority rates department, not the BID. If you have questions about payment, or technical questions about the levy, then you can contact the business rates team at Haringey Council, who are collecting the levy on the BID’s behalf, directly on 020 8489 1700 or by emailing business.rates@haringey.gov.uk

The BID Levy is a mandatory payment which is based on the rateable value on a commercial property. This is a fixed amount which was part of the ballot process.

A Business Improvement District is primarily funded by a levy which in Wood Green is paid by all businesses who have a rateable value over £12,000 and are within the defined BID area. From July 1st 2023, this is rising to £15,000 rateable value. The BID will also be looking and seeking to apply for additional funds from other sources including Section 108 (redevelopment funds), Mayor of London (GLA) and other sources to deliver a range of projects.

No. The Business Improvement District (BID) is an independent, not-for-profit limited company governed by its own Board and Management Group. However, the BID works closely with Council representatives to support its objectives and to raise issues on behalf of the businesses and organisations it represents in Wood Green.
In March 2018, all businesses within the defined Future Wood Green BID area were given the opportunity to vote on the establishment of a Business Improvement District (BID). The vote was successful, with 81% of those who voted in favour. The BID officially launched on 1 July 2018. Further details about the vote and results are available through our published reports. In early 2023, a renewal ballot was held and again passed successfully. As part of the renewal, the BID area was extended to include Turnpike Lane.
